First Impressions of Auckland

After walking around Auckland, it feels like a smaller version of Sydney. It is also a harbor city, with ferries and great views of the CBD. A day of city walking starts at the Sky Tower. This TV tower seems to be the tallest building in the city and can be seen from anywhere. Not far from the Sky Tower is St. Matthew's Cathedral. The granite exterior walls are quiet and beautiful, but not too stunning. A few hundred meters from the church is the Auckland Art Gallery. Here you can find masterpieces by New Zealand artists as well as classics by European artists. The gallery is not large, but it has everything you need. Next to the gallery is Albert Park. The park is not large, but the trees are thick and create a green shade. Next to the park is the University of Auckland. The university is open, with all the faculties and departments along the road. Walking along the university, you will soon reach the pier. Large cruise ships are moored here, and the ferry terminal is here. You can take a round trip to Devonport for NZD 12, no need to buy a ticket, just swipe your card. Devonport is a wealthy area with many villas. Children are happily playing with sailboats here. It doesn't take long to walk along the road to the top of Mount Victoria, which is a great place to overlook the Auckland harbor and CBD. Take the ferry back to the city, and it doesn't take long to walk back to the city center. The whole trip can be done on foot, and it's not tiring at all. We left at 10 am and returned to the hotel at 5:30 pm.
