Nepal | Kathmandu - Boudhanath

May all wishes come true! The Bodhisattva Pagoda, also called the Wishful Pagoda, is a very obvious landmark in the Kathmandu Valley. It is also a place that almost everyone will visit when they come here. It is located near the Kathmandu Airport. Speaking of which, the story of the origin of this tower is also inseparable from Tibet. It is believed that a long time ago, a poor chicken woman in the Kathmandu Valley asked the king for a piece of land to build a stupa. The king agreed to her request, and the tower construction project began. But while the project was still in progress, the old woman died. So her three sons continued the construction in accordance with their mother's wishes. When the big pagoda was about to be completed, the three sons made a wish in front of the pagoda: "May we make Buddhism take root in the snowy areas on the border." The eldest son said: "May I be born as a Dharma protector in the snowy areas of Tibet, so that the Buddha's teachings can take root. "The second child said: "When you are the Dharma Protector King, may I be a learned Pandita who can uphold the Buddha's teachings." The youngest one then said, "When you are the Dharma Protector King, may I be one. A siddha with supernatural powers who can protect and defend the teachings of the Buddha." After many lives, the eldest was reincarnated as Trisong Detsen, Zanpu of Tibet; the second was reincarnated in a place called Saho in India (now Bangladesh), and later served as a pandit in Nalanda Temple, the highest institution of Buddhism at that time; and the third was Padmasambhava of Udhiana (in present-day Pakistan). Although they were born in different places, they eventually met in the Shannan region of Tibet. With concerted efforts, the first temple in Tibet, Samye Monastery, was built and the rules for becoming a monk were formulated. In Tibetan history, the three of them are called the "Three Masters". When Buddhism was almost extinct in India, the birthplace of Buddhism, thanks to the wishes made by these three people in the great stupa many lifetimes ago, the Buddha's teachings not only continued in Tibet, but also flourished. I think this is also the reason why it is called the "Wish-fulfilling Tower". Through this pagoda, I also hope that all sentient beings will have their wishes fulfilled. After all, the greatest contribution we can make is to make everyone happy. When you are happy, many problems will be solved by themselves.
