The Beijing Art Museum is located within the Wanshou Temple, a treasured Ming and Qing dynasty temple. Wanshou Temple was originally built in the fifth year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1577), serving as a royal temple. It has undergone several large-scale renovations during the reigns of Emperors Kangxi, Qianlong, and Guangxu, resulting in a complex that combines temple, royal palace, and garden architectures in an east-central-west route layout, covering an area of 50 acres. It was once known as the 'Miniature Forbidden City' in the west of Beijing. The Wanshou Pavilion is currently hosting the 'Auspicious Objects Singing Longevity - Special Exhibition of Longevity-themed Cultural Relics'. The museum has brought out its treasured collections related to the theme of longevity, including various artifacts, clothing, paintings, calligraphy, and the Four Treasures of the Study. Each item, with its auspicious symbols, not only conveys people's ancient longing for health and longevity but also offers a glimpse into the aesthetic preferences of the Qing dynasty's royal family.
