Yonghe Temple: A Winter Adventure When my middle schooler started winter break, I decided to take him on a special winter escape to Yonghe Temple. As soon as we stepped into Yonghe Temple, it felt like we had traveled to another time and place. The ancient red walls and yellow tiles exuded a warm and mysterious aura in the cold wind. The lazy sunlight cast a charming halo on the glazed tiles, and my child was instantly captivated by the stunning scene, quickening his pace. We walked slowly along the central axis, from Zhaotai Gate to Wanfuge Pavilion, as if flipping through a thick history book. The wind seemed to carry whispers of the past. I told my child about the luxurious past of this place as a prince's residence, where nobles and officials once gathered for grand banquets and stories of prosperity unfolded. Later, it transformed into a Tibetan Buddhist temple, carrying the devotion and faith of countless people. My child's eyes sparkled with excitement, as if discovering a new world. When we reached Wanfuge Pavilion, the towering Maitreya Buddha statue came into view, and my child exclaimed in awe, his eyes filled with wonder. He quickly took out his phone to capture the breathtaking scene and kept asking me about the story behind the statue. As we passed by the incense burner, the rising smoke seemed like a bridge to a mysterious world. My child stood quietly, observing the people offering incense and prayers, his eyes full of curiosity. I took the opportunity to share with him the power of faith, telling him that the rising smoke carried people's hopes and dreams for a better life. He listened quietly, his gaze deep, and at that moment, I felt like I could see his inner world growing. This trip to Yonghe Temple was not only a warm parent-child bonding experience but also a magical journey for my child to touch history and feel faith.
