I stumbled upon this place by accident, and it was a pleasant surprise. The scenery is stunning.

It's not abroad, it's in the northeast of China. The sunlight illuminates every maple leaf, creating a vibrant display of orange and red. For the first time, I found myself having to lower the saturation while editing photos... This place is truly the best spot for autumn maple viewing! The photos were taken at Laobiangou in Benxi on November 1, 2024. It's even redder now! Laobiangou is not only great for photography but also perfect for hiking and stream tracing in the fall. Route 1: Ice Valley Tour Route You can climb to the top of Phoenix Peak for a panoramic view of Laobiangou's autumn colors. There are activities along the way, so it's recommended to take the tour bus one way and then hike down. Route 2: Yongge River Tour Route (★Recommended) Hike along the stream, and you'll feel like you're walking in a painting. The entire trail is about 8 km, taking around 4 hours round trip. In my opinion, the highlight is the section between Heyan Bay and Yilian Pavilion. If you're only interested in maple viewing, you can hike to Yilian Pavilion, then go uphill to the road, and take the tour bus or walk back. (Walking along the road takes about 20 minutes) Travel Tips: The best time for maple viewing along the stream is between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm, so plan your trip accordingly. √ Laobiangou and Dashihu are very close to each other, so you can visit both in one day. It's cheaper to buy a combo ticket at least two hours in advance. √ Public transportation in Benxi is not very convenient, and traffic jams are common during the maple season, so it's recommended to drive. √ If you're driving and need any tips, feel free to leave a comment!
