Cycling to Biei's Blue Pond

In Biei, Hokkaido, besides taking the bus or driving, cycling is another unique option. There are two bicycle rental shops near JR Biei Station, offering electric-assisted bicycles for rent. These bikes are essentially regular bicycles, but with the added benefit of electric assistance for uphill climbs, making them as easy to ride as on flat terrain. The distance from Biei Station to the famous Blue Pond is about 17 kilometers, which takes roughly an hour to cycle. Along the way, you can enjoy the beautiful autumn foliage of Hokkaido, making for a very pleasant ride.
