A secluded paradise independent of the world

Eight hundred li of the Qingjiang River are as picturesque as a painting, with a three hundred li gallery in Changyang. The Qingjiang Gallery Scenic Area is located within the territory of Changyang Tujia Autonomous County in Yichang City, Hubei Province. It is a provincial-level scenic spot and tourist resort in Hubei Province, as well as a national forest park approved by the State Forestry Administration and one of the four top-grade tourist scenic areas in the province named by the Hubei Provincial Tourism Bureau. On December 19, 2012, the Qingjiang Gallery Tourism Resort in Changyang, Yichang City, Hubei Province, received a letter from the Landscape Quality Grade Evaluation Committee of the National Tourism Administration, confirming that Qingjiang Gallery has become a national 5A-level scenic spot, and it is also a national geological park. The Qingjiang River is a pearl of the Yangtze River, 'With water so clear for ten fathoms, people see its purity and thus it is named Qingjiang.' It originates from Longdonggou in Lichuan City in western Hubei, flows through Enshi, Changyang, and Badong, and enters the Yangtze River at Yidu City, with a total length of 423 kilometers, earning the reputation of 'Eight hundred li of Qingjiang River as picturesque as a painting.' The Qingjiang water area that flows through Changyang is about 148 kilometers long. In 1994, the Geheyan Hydropower Station was built on the Qingjiang River, 11 kilometers west of the county town Longzhouping. The dam is 165 meters long and 150 meters high. The construction of the Geheyan Dam not only generates electricity but also provides flood control and water storage. During the once-in-a-century flood of the Yangtze River in 1998, the Geheyan Dam made a significant contribution to water storage and flood diversion.
