Puning Temple is located at No. 1 Puning Road, Shuangqiao District, Chengde City, Hebei Province. It is one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist temples in northern China.  History Built during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, it was built by Emperor Qianlong for the Mongolian princes who came to the meeting. Architectural Style - The front half is in the Han style: It is laid out in the style of the seven halls of the traditional Han Buddhist temple, with buildings such as the Mountain Gate Hall, the Hall of Heavenly Kings, and the Mahavira Hall, with a solemn and elegant architectural style. - The back half is in the Tibetan style: It was built in imitation of the Samye Monastery in Tibet, with the Pavilion of Mahayana as the center, and four lama pagodas of different colors at the four corners, reflecting the characteristics of Tibetan Buddhist architecture. Main Attractions - Pavilion of Mahayana: The iconic building in the temple, with six layers of eaves, a total height of 36.75 meters, and a bronze statue of the Thousand-Handed and Thousand-Eyed Avalokitesvara inside, with a total height of 27.21 meters, is the largest existing gold-painted wooden Buddha statue in the world. - Hall of Heavenly Kings: Five rooms wide and three rooms deep, with a single-eave hip roof. In the center of the hall is the statue of Budai (Maitreya Buddha), with the statue of Weituo behind him, and the Four Heavenly Kings on both sides. - Mahavira Hall: The main building, seven rooms wide and five rooms deep, with a double-eave hip roof and a copper-gilt pagoda in the center of the main ridge. The hall enshrines the Three Buddhas, with Shakyamuni Buddha as the main deity, Kasyapa Buddha in the west, and Maitreya Buddha in the east. - Stele Pavilion: Three rooms wide and three rooms deep, square in shape, built on a 1-meter-high stone Sumeru pedestal, with a double-eave hip roof and arched doors on all four sides. Inside the pavilion are three stone steles, recording important information such as the history of the temple.
