The Martyrdom Site of the Twelve Bridges...Chengdu

A quiet historical space in Chengdu, the long passage leading to the Martyrdom Shrine of the Twelve Bridges... Located within the Wenhua Park in Qingyang District, this site was established to commemorate the 32 revolutionary martyrs who were sacrificed during the December 7th Massacre on December 7, 1949. At that time, as Chengdu was on the verge of liberation, Kuomintang agents transported political prisoners to the Twelve Bridges for a tragic mass execution. The cemetery spans about 5,160 square meters and includes the Martyrs' Shrine, a relief wall, a memorial sculpture of the Unyielding Spirit, among others. The surrounding green pine and fir trees serve as a perpetual reminder of their sacrifice. Currently, this site is designated as a patriotic education base in Chengdu, attracting many students and groups to honor the revolutionary spirit.
