Isn’t it the best place to live?

I have been to Chiang Mai for the first time in May 2022 just when the world is recovering from COVID-19. Since then I loved every visit of mine that I made up my mind that I want to move there. Till to date I lost count of how many times I visited. It feels home, now that I am very familiar with the city. I have made many friends here and been many of the places, the people here are very friendly and the food is delicious. Here I want to introduce you to my favourite places and activities to do in the city. Popular tourist spots- First and foremost Chiang Mai is very famous for its old city, the gates and the temples. There are four gates- Thapae, Chang Phueak, Chiang Mai and Saun Dok. Thapae is the most famous one where there are lot of tourists and paparazzi. There is nothing much to see at the gates but if you are a morning person, would suggest walking around all four gates and enjoy the city. There are a lot of temples around- Wat chedi luang, wat Phra Sing, Wat Suan dok are a few important ones. Don’t hesitate to walk in, pray to Buddha and get blessings from monks. This is one of my favourite things to do and I try to go every week as possible. I would mention Wat doi sutep separately because it’s not in the old city but away on the hill. The journey would take around 30 minutes in a taxi and you would reach an amazing culturally rich temple with views of Chiang Mai city. One of my favourite moments in this city is when I hiked to this temple one day in the morning, it took three hours but on the way I met many people who were also hiking, discovered some cool spots and cherished every bit. Cafés You would not be experiencing the real Chiang Mai if you have not been any of the cafés in the city or outside city. There are many cafés literally every 100 metres but these are my favourites. I would categorise the cafés in Chiang mai into two types- one that have amazing coffee and the others with amazing ambience. The ones with amazing coffee are baristro by ping river (ambience is great too), Roast8ry lab, ministry of roasters, breweginings, graph. The one with amazing ambience are carp cafe, no 39 cafe, the Chom cafe, the orb cafe, owl cafe. Besides these every small cafe in Chiang mai is amazing. Do not hesitate to try coffee anywhere Outdoor spaces There are plenty of green outdoor spaces that I love and would write here about the less touristy ones. My favourite place (in the pictures) is Angkaew reservoir. Other place that I would suggest is Haui tueng thao in mae rim district, which is quite a drive from the city but really worth. Markets Coming to my favourite topic- food. There are many markets to find food but do visit the morning market at Chiang mai gate, mad na nor, kad luang and the famous Sunday walking street at Thapae gate #thailand #chaingmaifood #chiangmai #solotravel
