Chiayi City Confucius Temple

#2024Travel Review Located in Chiayi Park. Chiayi Confucius Temple is different from other Confucius Temples in Taiwan. It only has the Dacheng Hall and Pan Pond, but no common elements of Confucius Temples such as Minglun Hall, Chongsheng Temple, and Wanren Wall. The Dacheng Hall adopts the form of a single-eaved hipped hall with seven bays. There is a Pan Pond, a central imperial road stone and a stepped platform in front. The Bishui Bridge is built on the semicircular Pan Pond. In the center of the Dacheng Hall is the tablet of Confucius and the altar, and the tablets of sages and philosophers are set on both sides. The form of the brackets under the eaves and the supporting beams and rafters are not made according to the official standard style, and the brackets are simple in design and not painted. The four corners of the hipped hall roof are decorated with immortals and animals. The overall architectural decoration is simple and elegant. During every sacrificial ceremony, dance and music are played to the sound of bells and drums, presenting a solemn atmosphere and demonstrating the profoundness of Chinese Confucianism.
