Transportation: For transportation, you can choose to go to Chengdu first, and then take a bus or hire a car from Chengdu to Daocheng Yading. Personally, I recommend 🚗 driving yourself, the scenery along the way is quite nice. For those taking ✈️, it is advisable to rest and acclimate to the plateau to avoid discomfort when hiking to Milk Lake. 🤒 Tickets🎫: Off-season December-March: 120/person Peak season April-November: 146/person Sightseeing bus (Visitor Center to Zha Guan Lake) round trip: 120/person Chonggu Temple to Luorong Pasture: round trip 80/person Accommodation: For accommodation, Shangri-La Town is very close to the scenic area, with a lower altitude of around 2900 meters. There are many unique inns and hotels nearby to choose from, please book about a week in advance💥. For those driving, you can stay at accommodations farther from the main city. If you have a tent, bring it to avoid having no place to stay during the peak season. Yes, I brought one and slept outside. 😅 Travel Routes🗺️: 📍Short Route: Visitor Center to Zha Guan Beng to Chonggu Temple to Pearl Lake Suitable for hiking beginners, not very difficult. Take the sightseeing bus to Zha Guan Beng, then hike 3km round trip. There is a steep section in the middle, which takes about 3 minutes. 📍Long Route: Visitor Center to Zha Guan Beng to Chonggu Temple to Luorong Pasture to Milk Lake to Five-Color Lake Suitable for hiking enthusiasts or those with good physical strength. Take the sightseeing bus to Zha Guan Beng, walk 500m to Chonggu Temple, and take an electric car for about 15 minutes to reach Luorong Pasture. From Luorong Pasture, start hiking to Five-Color Lake, which takes about 4 minutes round trip. 📍Note: The long route closes in mid-November each year. Horse rental is 300/person/horse, book in advance, but it is not very cost-effective as you still need to hike up. 😅 Staff will start asking visitors to descend from 3:00 PM, so plan your time reasonably. The last supply point before Milk Lake has a fork in the road, left to Milk Lake and right to Five-Color Lake. Go to Milk Lake first for a gradual ascent, and those with good stamina can try Five-Color Lake, which is a bit strenuous.
