The Yungang Grottoes

The Yungang Grottoes, a treasure trove of world cultural and artistic heritage, began to be carved during the Northern Wei Dynasty in the 5th to 6th century AD. It was the first feudal imperial royal Buddhist grotto temple to be excavated near the capital of China, and it is also a pinnacle of the world's Buddhist grotto sculpture art. The grottoes are carved along the mountain, with a grand scale. Along the cliff stretching about 1 kilometer from east to west, there are currently 45 main caves and 256 small niches, containing over 59,000 Buddhist figures, and more than 20,000 various niche styles, pagoda shapes, and patterns. Off-season (November 1 to the end of March next year): Full price ticket: 100 yuan, Half price ticket: 50 yuan.
