Songshan Shaolin Temple

Basic Information Located in Dengfeng City, Zhengzhou, Henan Province, on the southern slope of Songshan Mountain. Opening hours: 8:00 am–5:00 pm. Admission: CNY 80 per person (peak season), CNY 60 per person (off-peak season). Transportation • Public transportation: Take a train or long-distance bus to Zhengzhou Railway Station or Long-distance Bus Station, then take a direct bus to Dengfeng. After arriving in Dengfeng, take a bus (Shaolin Temple Line) to the scenic area. • Self-driving: Navigate to Songshan Shaolin Temple Scenic Area. There is a parking lot in the scenic area. Tour Route • One-day tour route A: Arrive in the morning and watch a Shaolin Kung Fu performance to experience the charm of Shaolin martial arts. Have lunch at a nearby vegetarian restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the main buildings such as the Shaolin Temple Permanent Residence, Pagoda Forest, and Dharma Cave. • One-day tour route B: Start from Shaolin Temple and end at Sanhuang Village. Visit the Shaolin Temple Stone Archway, Shaolin Martial Arts Performance Venue, Shaolin Temple, Tianxia Diyi Mingsha Archway, Pagoda Forest, Chuzu Nunnery, Dharma Temple, and Erzu Nunnery in order. Then climb Songshan Mountain, pass through the Liantian Suspension Bridge and Huixin Cliff, and arrive at Sanhuang Village, Nantian Gate, Sanhuang Palace, and Haohan Slope. Food Recommendations • Vegetarian food: There are many vegetarian restaurants around Shaolin Temple, such as Luohan Zhai and vegetarian buns. • Dengfeng stewed noodles: Chewy noodles with fresh and delicious soup. • Sesame crispy pancake: Crispy and delicious with a fragrant aroma. Accommodation Suggestions There are hotels and inns near the scenic area. You can also return to Dengfeng City for accommodation. Reminders • Smoking and loud noises are prohibited in the temple. • Please protect cultural relics and the environment when taking photos. • Martial arts performances are held from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with one performance every hour.
