Songyue Temple Pagoda, Dengfeng, Henan.

Built during the Northern Wei Dynasty (520–525), this Buddhist pagoda is a 15-story dense-eave brick pagoda with a dodecagonal base. It is 37 meters tall and consists of a base, a body, 15 layers of eaves, and a spire. The body is divided into two parts. The upper part has four arched doors on the east, west, south, and north sides leading to the pagoda's central chamber. The lower part is vertical and undecorated. The 15 layers of eaves form a gentle parabola. The spire consists of a base, an inverted lotus, a Sumeru pedestal, a lotus, a wheel, and a jewel. There is an underground palace beneath the pagoda. The Songyue Temple Pagoda is the oldest brick pagoda in China.
