Baoguo Temple at Mount Emei

Baoguo Temple is located at the entrance to Mount Emei and is the largest temple on the mountain. It was built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty and was originally named Huizong Hall, symbolizing the unity of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. It was rebuilt during the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, and Emperor Kangxi renamed it Baoguo Temple, inspired by the Buddhist concept of 'repaying the four kinds of kindness,' with the name meaning 'repaying the kindness of the country.' It is a key national Buddhist temple in the Han Chinese region. Baoguo Temple faces east and has several main buildings, including the Mountain Gate, Maitreya Hall, Mahavira Hall, Seven Buddhas Hall, and Samantabhadra Hall. The grand halls are spacious and magnificent, with a strong incense atmosphere. The entrance fee for tourists is only eight yuan. When I left Mount Emei in the morning, I hurriedly paid my respects with ten bows, feeling a thousandfold reverence, and happily bought a consecrated bracelet.
