Switzerland | The picturesque Lake Lucerne

Lake Lucerne is the birthplace of the Swiss Confederation, with stunning scenery and towering snow-capped mountains in view. Lucerne is most famous for the Chapel Bridge, which is a symbol of the city. The Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke), also known as the Church Bridge, was built in 1333 and is the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe. The Chapel Bridge spans 200 meters, and near the center of the bridge is an octagonal water tower (Water Tower), which was built around the year 1300. It was originally part of the city walls and has been used as an archive, treasury, prison, and torture chamber.
