I took a trip to the real-life 'Underworld'

Fengdu County on the banks of the Yangtze River is often shrouded in mist, and Fengdu Ghost City looms faintly in the fog. That ethereal feeling indeed has a touch of mythical dreaminess. Fengdu Ghost City includes Fengdu Ming Mountain, Ghost Kingdom Divine Palace, and Shuanggui Mountain. The mountains are dotted with ancient temples, and the main attractions include Luming Temple, Su Gong Shrine, Enlai Pavilion, and Confucius Temple. The ancient architectural structures of the 'Ghost City' include beam-lifting and through-purlin styles. Building materials used include bricks, tiles, wood, stone, and bamboo. The roof styles include hip roofs, suspended roofs, hard roofs, spire roofs, and various combinations. Unfortunately, most of the buildings and statues today were constructed after the 1980s. Almost all ancient relics were destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. This is a loss of historical culture and a disaster for human civilization. Every time I see these historical sites or relics that suffered calamities during the absurd years of the 1950s to 1970s, I silently recite the word 'crime' in my heart. For Chinese people, that period represents ignorance, evil, filth, chaos, destruction, and sin, representing the extinction of humanity and the release of bestiality. Facing the Fengdu Ghost City, I suddenly feel that the frenzied, violent era was the real hell on earth. The past is unbearable to look back on! Fortunately, hell is just a part of history, and the world has always been moving forward. Universal values are always accepted by all of humanity. In this light, the Fengdu Ghost City scenic area is not really a real-life 'Underworld'. After all, those who experienced the catastrophe 60 years ago are the ones who truly walked through the 'Gate of Ghosts'.
