The 'Chinese White to the World - Dehua Porcelain Masterpieces Exhibition' is being held at the Fujian Museum

The exhibition interprets the role of Dehua porcelain as an important carrier of a fine life through two parts: 'Chinese White, Both Elegant and Beautiful' and 'To the World, A Treasure of All Under Heaven'. The first part 'Chinese White, Both Elegant and Beautiful' explains the development history, artistic characteristics, and types of Dehua white porcelain; the second part 'To the World, A Treasure of All Under Heaven' introduces the history of Dehua white porcelain's export and its outstanding contributions to the spread of porcelain-making techniques and Sino-foreign exchanges. From the dimensions of historical civilization, craftsmanship, and world recognition, Dehua white porcelain holds a special position for showcasing regional traditional culture. The exhibition presents classic white porcelain works by ancient, modern, and contemporary masters to the world, showing how Dehua, a small mountainous county in the Quanzhou area of Fujian, has thrived and become famous because of porcelain, carving out a unique development path. The ceramics known as 'Chinese White' in Europe refer to the Dehua white porcelain of the Ming and Qing dynasties. Among Dehua white porcelain, the most artistically influential and impactful are the figurines. The densely scattered ancient porcelain kiln sites within Dehua, the ancient shipwrecks recovered from major sea areas around the world, and the Dehua white porcelain unearthed along the Maritime Silk Road, as well as the numerous treasured collections preserved in many museums at home and abroad, are all tangible evidence of how Dehua white porcelain is cherished by people both in China and abroad and widely exported overseas.
