 🏝Wenchangli Historical Block is located near Wenchang Bridge, Fuzhou, which has a history of over 800 years and was used as a model for bridge construction in the Qing Dynasty. It is the hometown of Tang Xianzu, a great playwright in the Ming Dynasty. Wenchangli is located in the northeast of the central urban area of Fuzhou. Wenchangli Historical and Cultural Block has 13 well-preserved historical streets and alleys from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and more than 50 well-preserved historical buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The Jiangyou-style buildings with traditional Jiangxi characteristics are scattered in every corner. 🏝The name Wenchangli originated in the mid-Tang Dynasty, when the Fuzhou government built a dam to store water in the east of the city. After the dam was completed, according to the ancient astrology, "Wenchang is in the north of the Big Dipper, which is the main star of Fuzhou." The dam was named "Wenchang Dam" because it was located under the Wenchang Star, which was a sign of the prosperity of Fuzhou culture. It was also known as "Qianjin Dam." 🏝In the Northern Song Dynasty, the Tang Dynasty's township system was continued, and the area east of the Fu River was called Gangdongxiang. Because of the Wenchang Dam, the area near the Wenchang Dam was named "Wenchangli," which has been in existence for a thousand years.
