March is the pear blossom season in Gejiu, a time for a hiking trip to enjoy the flowers at Shaocun

Yunnan's Honghe Prefecture's Gejiu City, once known as the "Tin Capital of the World", is now a livable mountain city that few travelers pay attention to, but because of this, it has a rare leisurely charm. This small city is "flanked by two mountains with a lake in between", and the buses all run in loops, with no particularly outstanding major attractions; however, every March, the mountain villages not far from the city center present a scene of 'thousands of trees of pear blossoms in bloom', with weather that is neither cold nor hot, wild vegetables growing wildly, and many benefits, making it worth a visit. There are mainly two spots for enjoying the pear blossoms in Gejiu: one is Jiaji Village, and the other is Shaocun Village. The former is further away, with an entrance fee of 20 yuan plus a parking fee of 10 yuan, and a larger and more spectacular range of flowers; the latter has no entrance fee, a parking fee of 15 yuan, and is no more than 5 kilometers from the city center, with no pressure to walk back and forth on the same day, small and exquisite, and a pleasure to walk through. For convenience, I chose Shaocun Village. 'Li Yuan Shaocun' is the brand name of the local Lusha pear, as well as a synonym for the village, which is accessible by a smooth asphalt road. People dressed in outdoor gear, carrying insulated lunch boxes, walk up the mountain in groups of three or five, enjoying the flowers while picking wild vegetables and flowers, and when tired and hungry, they sit under the trees to dine, enjoying themselves. The traditional Yi ethnic minority dwellings in the village are somewhat preserved, with more modern designs added, such as art galleries and guest halls, a harmonious mix of styles, and the village is rightly called 'Gejiu's Back Garden'. 🕘【Opening Hours】: All day 💴【Admission】: Free for individuals, 15 yuan parking fee per vehicle. 🚌【Transportation Tips】: Currently, there is no public transportation available, so self-driving or hiking is required. Starting from Gejiu Bus Station, it takes about a dozen minutes by car, or about half an hour to an hour on foot. 👉【Itinerary】: There are two roads from the city center to Shaocun Village on the mountain, one on the left and one on the right. Personally, I think the road on the right is closer, with fewer people, and more suitable for hiking. 🧡【Small TIPS】: 1. The pear blossoms bloom from early March to the end of the month, with the peak blooming period concentrated in late March. 2. The village hosts events on weekends, but it is also more crowded, lively and fun; those who prefer quiet should avoid these times. 3. The village has homestays, tent camps, restaurants, and local products for sale; prices are not certain, but it is indeed convenient. 4. There are many hiking trails around the village, worth exploring further, and one day may not be enough for a full experience.
