My Life FIRST | The Mysterious Sanxingdui, which artifact do you most want to see (Part 4)

📍Attraction Address: Xiangxin Road, Guanghan City, Sichuan Province 🚗Attraction Transportation: We drove there ourselves 👍Attraction: In the eighteenth year of the Republic of China (1929), local farmer Yan Daocheng accidentally discovered a pit of jade artifacts while dredging a ditch, which is considered the earliest discovery of the Sanxingdui site. In June of the twentieth year of the Republic of China (1931), British pastor Dong Yidu, who was preaching in Guanghan, and American professor Dai Qianhe from West China University visited and photographed the Moon Bay site. In March of the twenty-third year of the Republic of China (1934), American professor D.C. Graham from West China University Museum and museum staff Lin Mingjun, with the support of the local Luo county chief, conducted a trial excavation of the Sanxingdui site, and the unearthed artifacts were preserved by the West China University Museum. This was the first scientific archaeological excavation of Sanxingdui in history. In 1953, to protect cultural relics and monuments for the construction of Tiancheng Railway, Professor Feng Hanji, the director of the Southwest Museum, led a team to investigate the Moon Bay site in Guanghan. In 1976, a pit-like relic was discovered near the Sanxingdui site in Gaoxian Township, Guanghan, where a copper plaque inlaid with turquoise, a jade halberd, a jade knife, and a jade spear were unearthed, dating from the late Shang Dynasty and possibly from the third phase of the Sanxingdui site. In August 1986, Sacrificial Pit No. 2 (also known as Artifact Pit No. 2) was discovered, and the excavation unearthed a bronze sacred tree, bronze standing figures, bronze head sculptures, bronze masks, and a large number of ivory, jade artifacts, seashells, and various precious cultural relics. The news was reported by the media and immediately caused a huge response, causing a sensation at home and abroad. In 1988, the State Council organized a review of the Sanxingdui site alone, and it was announced as a national key cultural relics protection unit that year. In March 2021, the new round of archaeological excavation results of Sanxingdui were first announced to the public, and rare cultural relics such as gold masks, bronze wares, and large ivories were excavated. 🎟️Ticket Information: Buy tickets online in advance, they are very popular. 💗Other tips: In addition to Sanxingdui, Guanghan also has the Luocheng site, Longju Temple, and more introduced in other notes.
