Sanxingdui is located on the south bank of the Yazi River in Sanxingdui Town, Guanghan City, Sichuan Province. It is a Shu culture site from the Neolithic to the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, covering an area of about 12 square kilometers and dating back about 4,800 to 2,800 years. The site is centered around the ancient city of Sanxingdui from the Xia and Shang Dynasties. Relying on the Yazi River and spanning the Mamu River, it forms a defensive system with city walls on the east, west, and south sides and the Yazi River to the north. The ancient city covers an area of about 370 hectares and can be divided into a sacrificial area, a residential area, a workshop area, and a burial area. There are also important rammed earth architectural sites such as Sanxingdui and Moon Bay, reflecting the highly prosperous and well-planned ancient city. It is one of the largest ancient city sites of the same period discovered in China and is the largest ancient cultural site in the southwestern region of China with a regional central status. The large number of unearthed objects prove the existence of the ancient Shu Kingdom. The existence of the Sanxingdui site is of great value for exploring the evolution of early human political organizations and social forms, and for studying the development of early national processes and religious consciousness. It occupies an important position in the history of human civilization.
