Dongping Pawnshop Museum: A Century of History

The Dongping Pawnshop Museum is located at No. 1, Zhongshan 4th Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, and opened in 2010. The Dongping Pawnshop was built in the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. It is a Qing Dynasty pawnshop tower with a history of over 100 years and is a rare surviving example of an ancient pawnshop. The museum currently has 233 exhibits (sets). The first floor of the tower has been restored to show the high counters and pawnshop scenes of the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. The second floor displays modern pawnshop literature, historical materials, pictures, and objects. The third floor displays the development and innovation of the modern pawnshop industry and is used to hold various pawnshop item appreciation and knowledge lectures.
