Saint Sophia Cathedral is one of Harbin's landmark buildings. It is said to be the largest Byzantine-style Orthodox church in the Far East, with a maximum capacity of 2,000 people. The church combines the cultural colors of Eastern Arabia and Islam, adopts a Greek cross plan layout, is symmetrical from north to south, and the top is marked by the central cross, the bell tower cross, and the spire cross. At the same time, the roof is mainly shaped like an onion head. In addition to the central dome, there are many spires and dome hemispheres and some small domes, which add a sense of hierarchy and gorgeousness to the entire church. The main walls use a large area of primary color red bricks. The upper section of the wall is similar to Western columns, forming a rectangular groove in the middle. The red bricks in the groove are orderly indented to form a central hollow cross-shaped brick decoration. The stone carvings on the outer wall have Byzantine patterns and decorations, such as phoenix patterns and delicate patterns. Now, the church no longer conducts religious activities and has been converted into the "Harbin Architectural Art Museum".
