Embracing the "since I'm already here" mentality and this unique Harbin romance💕, I decided to explore. The interior is quite empty, and I've captured everything there is to see (you can take a look👀). Compared to the exterior, especially when lit up at night, the inside does feel a bit hollow, but it has a different charm. There weren't many people inside. The Byzantine style, complemented by exquisite murals, and a young man playing the saxophone🎷, creates a unique experience. ⛪️Architectural Features Saint Sophia Cathedral is a typical Byzantine-style building, blending Eastern Arabian and Islamic cultural elements, and possessing high artistic value. ✅Exterior Features: The church has a Greek cross layout, 42 meters long from east to west and 28 meters wide from north to south. The main structure is 53.35 meters high, topped by the iconic "onion dome" with a diameter of 27.8 meters, covered in green copper tiles that shimmer in the sunlight. ✅Decorative Details: The exterior walls are made of exposed red brick, adorned with Byzantine-style stone carvings and patterns, such as phoenix motifs. Each of the four wings has a pointed bell tower, which once housed seven large bells, their chimes resonating far and wide. ✅Interior Space: The interior of the church is spacious and bright, with exquisite murals adorning the dome and walls, and colorful tiles covering the floor. A statue of the crucifixion of Jesus stands at the center of the altar, creating a solemn and reverent atmosphere.
