Daisetsuzan Asahidake Ropeway

Daisetsuzan is a collective name for a group of volcanoes located in the center of Hokkaido, including 13 peaks such as Asahidake, Kitaminedake, and Kurodake. The main peak, Asahidake, stands at an altitude of 2,290 meters, making it the highest peak in Hokkaido, earning it the nickname 'Roof of Hokkaido.' The majestic mountain ranges of Asahidake are a testament to the wonders of nature, and it is also the earliest place in Japan to witness the beautiful autumn foliage. It has long been a must-visit spot for autumn leaves enthusiasts, consistently ranking as the most popular destination in northern Japan. Starting in early September, the summit begins to turn red, signaling the arrival of the autumn foliage season. Due to the varying terrain and altitude of Daisetsuzan, the degree of color change differs, taking about a month for the red leaves to gradually spread from the summit to the base. This creates a unique landscape where yellow, orange, red, and green colors intertwine, forming a breathtaking masterpiece.
