As early as 1842, the first generation Central Market was established and has a history of nearly 180 years. As the largest meat market in Southeast Asia at that time, the Central Market attracted residents from all walks of society to purchase daily necessities. The revitalized Central Market reopened in August 2021 with the theme 'Playground for All', and the three-story building is divided into three main elements: a boundary-less space, an urban oasis, and a carefully curated conservation experience. The market houses over 100 shops, retaining 13 unique traditional market stalls, inviting time-honored brands to join, and also introducing many cultural and creative boutiques, Hong Kong-style gourmet snacks, and art market exhibitions.
