❶. Ye Ting's Former Residence is located in Huishuilou Village, Zhoutian, Qiuchang Town, Huiyang District, Huizhou City. It is a cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province and a base for patriotic education and party history education in Huizhou City. The former residence is Ye Ting's ancestral home, built by his grandfather Ye Peilin. Over the past hundred years, although there have been frequent wars, it has not been destroyed. After the liberation, it has been protected by the people's government. In 1978, it was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in Huiyang County. On July 1, 1980, after maintenance, Ye Ting's Former Residence officially opened! ❷. Ye Ting's Former Residence has a construction area of 240 square meters, a width of 15 meters, a depth of 16 meters, and a height of 5 meters. It has four rooms, two halls, a kitchen, and a patio. There is a paddy field in front of the door, which is 36 meters long and 20 meters wide, with a wall. There is a square pavilion near the former residence, with a side length of 5 meters and a height of 4.8 meters. There is a 0.8-meter-high guardrail between the pavilion columns, and there is an entrance on the north, west, and south sides. Ye Ting often read here when he was young, so later generations called it the Reading Pavilion. Ye Ting's Former Residence was built by Ye Ting's grandfather Ye Peilin in 1884. It is a relatively small Hakka Weilou. On July 1, 1980, after maintenance, it was officially opened to the public. Jiang Zemin inscribed the plaque for the former residence: "General Ye Ting's Former Residence". In May 2003, a 2,000-square-meter Ye Ting's Former Residence Square was built in front of the former residence. In the center of the square stands a statue of Ye Ting. The height of the bronze statue is the same as Ye Ting's date of birth. ❸. 8910 meters, the "cane" he holds is legendary. It is not a cane, but a "leaning sword". It was given to him by a German military strategist during Ye Ting's 10 years of exile. Usually, it is a cane, and it can also be used as a stool when tired. As long as the oval handle is opened and inserted into the ground, it becomes a stool; in an emergency, pull the bullet on the copper ring, and a plug will automatically pop out. Unscrew the steel plug and it becomes a gun. Ye Ting cherished this special cane very much. In addition to the living arrangements of Ye Ting and his family, the former residence also displays information about Ye Ting's revolutionary career. For example, on the wall of the bedroom of Ye Ting and his wife, there is a photo of Ye Ting taken in Macau in 1936. This was taken before he was invited to Yan'an by Mao Zedong to accept the position of commander of the New Fourth Army. The exhibition room also displays Mao Zedong's inscription after Ye Ting's death: "Die for the people, and although dead, still glorious." "Prison Song" by Ye Ting. Many of the exhibits in the former residence are common farm tools, such as various baskets, hoes, shovels, etc., and there are also broken bamboo hats and sickles for harvesting on the wall. The former residence also has Tengyun Private School, where Ye Ting's revolutionary thoughts sprouted, and the book pavilion where Ye Ting often read Yue Fei and Wen Tianxiang's poems.
