The first thing you see is the obelisk of the racecourse (Obelisk of Theodosius), which is the oldest obelisk in Istanbul. It is on the central axis of the racecourse and was transported from Alexandria in 390 BC. Emperor Constantine decided to rebuild Istanbul, and during his reign, he moved many monuments from different parts of the empire to Istanbul from their original locations. The Snake Column (Triangular Column) is one of these monuments that has been preserved to this day. It was built during the Ottoman Empire. It is magnificent, luxurious and unique in shape. It is an Arabic-style dome building surrounded by six minarets, symbolizing the six major faiths of Islam. It gets its name because all the walls inside the mosque are decorated with blue and white colors. It is the center of the old city of Istanbul. Opposite the mosque is the Hagia Sophia, with a square in the middle. You can take pictures of the mosque in the morning and the church in the afternoon. There is also a fountain in the middle where you can rest. Hagia Sophia, a famous historical building in Türkiye, represents a model of Byzantine culture.
