Qian's Dock, Jiashan, Zhejiang

Qian's Dock was built by Qian Zhongqiao, the richest man in the area, during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty. The dock covers an area of 108 square meters, facing east to west, with a total of four rooms, a width of 7 meters, a depth of 13 meters, a gable roof, and a beam structure with seven beams and two columns. The stone columns on the south side are supported in the water, and bricks are built on top of them, while the stone columns on the north side are built on the bank, which is made of granite. The first room on the east side is made of bricks for the boatmen to live in, and the three rooms on the west side are for the boats to dock. There is one inner river wharf and one Bazi River wharf. Qian's Dock is the only one in Jiashan, and it is rare in Zhejiang Province. It can be used as a physical evidence for the study of docks in the water towns of Jiangnan, and has certain historical, artistic, and scientific value. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province.
