Meiwan Street, the largest historical and cultural leisure street in downtown Jiaxing

Meiwan Street in Jiaxing is the largest historical and cultural leisure street in downtown Jiaxing. It is named after the plum trees planted in ancient times and the river bay near the Grand Canal. Since ancient times, it has been a prosperous place in Jiaxing, and it was once the center of the rice and silk markets, where merchants gathered. Meiwan Street is divided into old and new streets. The old street is mainly composed of ancient-style wooden structures, with blue bricks and tiles, carved beams and painted buildings, and an ancient charm. The new street retains the original street layout and integrates "water, houses, and greenery." Meiwan Street has a rich cultural heritage and preserves many historical buildings, including the former residence of Zhu Shenghao, the former residence of Shen Junru, and the former site of the Korean Provisional Government.
