Xike Spring bubbles to welcome guests

Located at the northwest foot of Damao Peak in the Maoshan Scenic Area, there is a famous ancient spring called Xike Spring, which is also the last stop of this Maoshan trip. Xike Spring is warm in winter and cool in summer, with sweet water quality, and it does not dry up during drought. In June 2002, the scenic area carried out restorative development of the divine spring. The attraction integrates the Daoist concept of 'the unity of heaven and man', combining ancient trees, the divine spring, historical relics, and pavilions, forming a natural landscape painting. Xike Spring is named for its 'Three Wonders', which are said to be miraculous and extraordinary due to the spiritual energy of heaven and earth and the immortal aura of Daoism: The first wonder: The spring bubbles happily when guests arrive. As long as visitors stand by the spring and clap their hands twice, strings of bubbles will emerge from the bottom of the spring, like pearls tumbling, as if welcoming the guests, hence the name Xike Spring. The second wonder: The spring water is covered with an oily film. When Xike Spring is calm, there will be a thin film-like substance covering the surface. When bubbles emerge and water ripples scatter, the film-like surface splits open, then suddenly gathers together, and slowly returns to calm, resembling oily water, thus called 'oily film cover'. The third wonder: The water flows uphill. The water level of Xike Spring is about 8 meters higher than the water ditch on its east side. According to the gravity of the earth, the water flowing down from the mountain should follow the ditch on the east side down the mountain, but surprisingly, it flows into Xike Spring.
