Check in at the "Pearl of the Grassland" - Jiagacuo

Continue to explore the secret places on Provincial Highway S454 - Jiagacuo. Jiagacuo, also known as Honghaizi, is located in Kangding City, at an altitude of over 4,200 meters. It is known as the "Pearl of the Grassland" because of its clear lake water and surrounding mountains. I like to learn about the moving legends of every place I visit. Jiagacuo is no exception. In Tibetan, Jiagacuo is called "Yerenhai" (Lake of the Wild Man), a name that is rich in stories. ‌ According to legend, Tashi and Zhuoma settled and lived together by the beautiful lake of Jiagacuo (also known as Mugecuo) to escape the oppression of their tribe. However, the locals mistakenly believed that there were wild men here, and so the love story of Mugecuo spread, adding a touch of mystery to the lake. Another legend says that a pair of lovers eloped here to escape the eyes of the world, but were mistaken for wild men, hence the name "Yerenhai" (Lake of the Wild Man). These legends give Jiagacuo a unique cultural connotation and a sense of mystery.
