Shanghai Suburban Tour | The Largest Mazu Temple in East China Hidden in Kunshan - Huiju Temple

I went there by car for half an hour on the weekend, to Huiju Temple in Kunshan, the largest Mazu temple in East China. Upon arrival, I felt as if I had come to Quanzhou~ At first glance, I was captivated by its grandeur and magnificence, with red walls and swallowtail ridges, paired with golden glazed tiles‼️ ⭕️ Huiju Temple was originally located at the south of Ma'anshan (Yufeng Mountain) in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province. It was first built in the tenth year of the Tianjian era of the Liang Dynasty (AD 511) and was rebuilt in 2005 in the Kunshan Development Zone on Yangshu Road (south bank of Taicang Pond, west side of Dongting Lake Road), covering an area of 22 acres. ⭕️ The temple complex, planned with the 'Min-Taiwan' style and Lugang characteristics, integrates the religious, artistic, cultural, historical, and architectural elements from both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The incense offerings were introduced from Lugang Longshan Temple and Tianhou Palace across the sea. The temple combines the beauty of Minnan ancient architecture and the Mazu temples of Taiwan's Longshan Temple and Tianhou Palace, with the elegance of Suzhou gardens, and the ancient commercial street of Lugang town; allowing travelers in the Jiangnan water towns to stroll through the nostalgic Lugang ancient streets, red brick houses, and red wall swallowtail ridges, experiencing the strong local human touch and comforting the homesickness of travelers.
