Day trip to Laboe 🇩🇪

Laboe is a municipality in the district of Plön, in Schleswig -Holstein , Germany. It is situated on the Baltic Sea coast , approximately 10km northeast of Kiel. The Laboe Naval Memorial is located nearby, as is the U-boat U995. I planned a day trip to Laboe as I was staying in a hotel in Kiel and wanted to check out the area and the German U-boat , I was staying close to the Kiel Railroad Bridge (Hornbrucke) and the Fjord ferry (route 1) picks up passengers along the landing stages of Seegarten, Reventlou, Monkeberg, Moltenort, Friedrichsort to Laboe . There are regular daily sailings and you can purchase a ticket at the ticket machine onboard , which is conveniently in English if you don’t understand German , your free to hop on and off and if your starting in Kiel Bahnhof the journey to Laboe takes about an Hour and 15mins. A single ticket is about 5euros and it’s excellent value , I sat on the top deck of the ferry and had a great time seeing Cruise ships and other Ferries arriving and departing, also the wildlife and beautiful beaches with stunning views of the Bay and the Port of Kiel . There is plenty to do in Laboe , I took a walk along the strand beach where you can relax and eat and drink in the many bars and restaurants, you can also enjoy a unique experience panorama by hiring a covered and very comfy beach chair ,which dot the beach as seen in my photos , very comfortable!! The other top attraction is the Naval Memorial Museum which is located at the end of the beach , with a WW2 U-boat ,which you can go inside and the lookout tower can be seen and climbed for great views of the surrounding area, also a gift shop and parking …. I had a great day in Laboe and I took the Fjord Ferry back to Kiel and my hotel to decide where to go next 😀
