Encounter Feiyun Pagoda in Lixian County and listen to the whispers of centuries.

It is said to be the best-preserved river-suppressing pagoda in Hunan Province, and it's actually in my hometown of Lixian! Feiyun Pagoda is located on Ersheng Shoal on the north bank of the Lishui River in Baotawan Village, Lidan Subdistrict, Lixian County, Hunan Province. It was originally built in the early years of the Ming Dynasty's Tianqi era (1621). In the 16th year of the Qing Dynasty's Jiaqing era (1811), the bricks were replaced with stone, and construction was completed in the 22nd year of the Jiaqing era (1817). The pagoda is a seven-story, octagonal stone tower with upturned eaves, approximately 33 meters high and with a base diameter of 12.5 meters. The top of the pagoda is an octagonal, stepped, hipped roof with a circle of lotus petals and a three-section, gourd-shaped top. At the corners of the pagoda base, there are eight roundly carved Bodhisattvas supporting the tower. There are 117 relief Buddha statues carved inside and outside the tower, and eight immortals are carved on the lintel of the first floor. You can climb Feiyun Pagoda. You need to pay five yuan to an elderly woman who guards the gate. The first few floors are quite dark, so you'll need a flashlight. You can eventually climb to the sixth floor, where you can see the Lishui River through four doorways. The view is quite open, making it a great spot for photos.
