Japanese Garden (Manila)

#manilatrip The Japanese Garden is located in the northern part of Rizal Park, to the right of the Open Air Auditorium. The garden is entered through a small, straw-brown, Japanese-styled building. As in the Chinese garden, a large part of the Japanese garden is occupied by an irregular pond. The eastern and western shores of this pond are connected by a long bridge. Bamboo gates have been designed over the path leading around the pond. They look beautiful especially now during the rainy season, when the bamboo leaves are young and juicy green. In the most northern part of the park, a piece of granite slab with the image of Buddha is exposed. This stone was brought from Hiroshima as a reminder of the horrors this city experienced in August 1945. Under the roofed pavilion there is an exhibition of drawings and photos depicting the nightmare experienced by the Japanese as a result of dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There is also a characteristic red Japanese gate in the garden. Admission is free. A place definitely worth visiting.
