The name of the store is Hongik Sauce Crab 홍익게장, located in Mapo-gu, about 15 minutes' walk from Exit 1 of Hongik University. It is a bit far, but it is ok with the mentality of consuming energy first and replenishing it in the next breath. There is only Korean 홍익게장 on the sign, and you have to get closer to see the banner under the sign that says "Hongik Sauce Crab". However, the store is easy to recognize from the outside, so it shouldn't be hard to miss.
We arrived around 5 or 6 in the afternoon and there were quite a lot of people there, including tourists and Koreans. Because the price-performance ratio is so high, I suggest you come early! Otherwise, there should be a long queue after 7 o'clock... After you are seated, you must first choose a set meal. The store has three options:
21,900 won (about HK$140) - Soy sauce crab + soy sauce shrimp + spicy crab (all you can eat) + flower crab soup pot
19,900 won (about HK$126) - Soy sauce crab + soy sauce shrimp (all you can eat) + flower crab soup pot
17,900 won (about HK$114) - Soy sauce crab + soy sauce shrimp (all you can eat)
Nick chose the middle-priced 19,900 won (about HK$126) - soy sauce crab + soy sauce shrimp (all you can eat) + flower crab soup pot set meal. In addition, the store also provides side dishes: steamed egg and kimchi pancake each.
The broth of the flower crab soup pot is red, and it contains shrimp, half a crab, vegetables, and a lot of bean sprouts. The taste is tasty and not too spicy. I eat a lot of Thai raw shrimp sashimi, but this is my first time eating Korean soy sauce shrimp. The flavors are quite different, and both are delicious!
The soy sauce crab is also fresh and delicious, the crab meat and crab roe are sweet, and the store provides a bowl of rice. The Korean way of eating it is to stuff the rice into the crab shell, and eat it together with the soy sauce, crab roe and rice ~ It really goes well with rice!
$120 It’s hard to find such a price. You can’t even buy half a soy sauce crab in Hong Kong. This restaurant offers all-you-can-eat fresh and authentic soy sauce shrimp and crab. The price-performance ratio is really perfect!
