A city of tranquility with many cafes. It's not very busy here, and you can either walk or cycle around. There are rental bikes available along the way. When I visited, there were few people. The advantage is that there are buses to various cities easily, whether to Shinjuku (Tokyo) or Kamikochi. You can also go to Hakuba. It's a great hub for traveling. Walking around the city, there are old temples and a relaxed atmosphere.
