It may have been used as a filming location, and there are some interesting spots nearby, so you can enjoy it on a day trip, but I also recommend staying overnight while relaxing in the hot springs. You can also walk to the fishing port, so you can enjoy something different in the morning. It's a place where there aren't too many people around, so I get the impression that there aren't many families.
