| Experience the Unique Aesthetics of an Eastern Castle. Yunshuiyao Ancient Town, originally named Changjiao Village, is a historic ancient village. The village features long ancient paths, century-old banyan trees, magical tulou (earthen buildings), and picturesque mountains and waters, all of which give people a transcendent feeling. It is also part of the World Cultural Heritage 'Fujian Tulou.' In Yunshuiyao Ancient Town, one of the most distinctive features is the scattered tulou, a World Cultural Heritage, located at the foot of the mountains, beside the streams, and across the fields. These tulou, which began to be built in the mid-Yuan Dynasty, have 53 well-preserved buildings. Another feature is the group of 13 giant ancient banyan trees, the largest and most concentrated group of thousand-year-old banyan trees in Fujian Province. Additionally, there is a century-old street and a thousand-year-old ancient path. The tulou in the village are mainly circular, with a small number being square. There are also stilted buildings, bamboo pole buildings, and mansion-style tulou. Among the most famous are 'The World's Most Unique' Hegui Lou and the most exquisitely crafted double-ring circular Huaiyuan Lou. These tulou are ingeniously constructed according to the terrain, using local materials, and are as solid as a rock, warm in winter and cool in summer, making them unique residential buildings in the world. The banyan tree group in the village consists of 13 trees, one of which has a canopy covering an area of 1,933 square meters, with branches extending over 30 meters. The trunk's base requires more than ten adults to encircle it, making it the largest banyan tree discovered in Fujian Province. A very smooth cobblestone ancient path runs through the banyan tree group, flanked by traditional ancient residential buildings and markets. 🎏Main Attractions: ✅️ Hegui Lou (Picture 3): Built during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, it is a square tulou built on a swamp. It has remained solid and stable for two hundred years and is known as 'The World's Most Unique Tulou.' It is also the prototype of Qiu's home in the movie 'Big Fish & Begonia.' ✅️ Large Waterwheel (Picture 4): Located in the center of the scenic area, it was a set built for the movie 'The Knot' and retained after filming. ✅️ Old Market Street (Picture 5): With a history of 700 years, the two-story old wooden structure houses still retain the old wooden boards replacing walls. ✅️ Huaiyuan Lou (Picture 6): The most exquisitely built and best-preserved double-ring circular tulou.
