Wulongtan Park.

Wulongtan Park, where natural landscapes and historical culture blend together. During the Three Kingdoms period, Wulongtan was a passage for the Nanjing water system to enter the river. In a certain year of the Jin Dynasty, four black dragons appeared in the pool on the 19th day of the sixth lunar month. For several consecutive years, there were black dragons reappearing in the soil on this day, hence the name Wulongtan. In the early Tang Dynasty, Yan Zhenqing set up a release pool here, and Wulongtan became famous for its release. During the Southern Tang Dynasty, Li Yu, the last emperor of the Tang Dynasty, built a summer palace on the Qingliang Mountain by the lake. He had to pass by here every time he came and went. Later, he wrote the famous sentence "The carved railings and jade steps should still be there, only the red face has changed." In the Song Dynasty, because a large number of white laughing balsams were planted in the pool, it was also called "Furongchi" and became a place for lotus viewing. In the Ming Dynasty, the Wulongtan waters were still very wide, "the depth of the pool is unpredictable, the width is more than 100 feet, and the length is three miles", the scenery is beautiful, and it is a good place for officials to build gardens and villas. In the Qing Dynasty, the slopes on both sides of Wulongtan were already pavilions, terraces, buildings, and trees. The most prominent was Cao Weaving Garden. Cao Xueqin lived here in his childhood. Later, he wrote the famous literary masterpiece "A Dream of Red Mansions" based on this life experience. After Cao's defeat, it was changed to Sui Weaving Garden. During the Qianlong period, Yuan Mei bought this garden and called it Suiyuan. Wei Yuan, a great thinker of the Qing Dynasty, lived by the water, wrote books and theories, and initiated the trend of learning from the West. For thousands of years, Wulongtan has successively gathered masters such as Yan Zhenqing, Mao Yuanyi, Fang Bao, Cao Xueqin, Wei Yuan, Tao Shu, Wu Jingzi, and Yuan Mei. Here, they have created masterpieces in the history of Chinese thought and culture: "Wubeizhi", "Haiguo Tuzhi", "Shengwuji", "Suiyuan Shihua", "Suiyuan Wenxuan", etc., nourishing masterpieces such as "A Dream of Red Mansions", "The Scholars", and "The Peach Blossom Fan". Many famous sayings and good words have been left behind.
