Tomb of the Emperor

The castle of Sant Angelo was primarily built by emperor Hadrian to serve as his mosolleum. Today it houses a museum with a rich historic collection. Refreshingly, this wasn't crowded so it made for a peaceful two hours exploring every corner of this place. I didn't have a guide this time so I was able to relax and read through descriptions at my own pace. This makes for a great stop on your way to the Vatican which is a treasure cove from historical and musuem persoective. This will help gather some more information and understanding of how Rome has transitioned in the last two thousand years. There is a cafe with snack and drink options. Also clean washrooms. As always there is considerable walking involved and some stairs too. So put on the best pair of walking shoes. The views from the top were gorgeous.
