Mexico | Visit the local market and eat the traditional jicama

Mexican owners warmly welcomed us, offering samples of jícama, a root vegetable also known as Mexican yam bean. It looks like a potato on the outside, but when sliced open, it resembles sugarcane. In Mexico, they commonly cut it into strips along with cucumber, sprinkle it with chili powder, and serve it in small bags as a snack. When I tried it, the unique mix of spicy chili powder and the fresh crunch of jícama created an interesting flavor—not overly sweet, but definitely distinctive.
