Wintersweet in Zuibaichi Park

Wintersweet trees in Zuibaichi Park are mainly distributed in several scenic spots in the park, including in front of the Carved Flower Hall, north of the Caotang on the Pond, the Bonsai Garden, the Deer Garden, and in front of the Xuehai Hall. It is worth mentioning that there is a century-old wintersweet tree in front of the Yifang, which is listed as a second-class ancient tree in Shanghai. The history of Zuibaichi Park can be traced back to the Song Dynasty. It was originally a private garden of Zhu Zhichun, a Jinshi from Songjiang, and was named "Guyang Garden." In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, Gu Dashen, a Langzhong of the Ministry of Works, took over the garden and named it "Zuibaichi" after Bai Juyi's "Pond Poem." Although there are not many wintersweet trees in the park, they are all planted in the right places, complementing the buildings and landscapes in the park, creating a sense of classical garden charm and beauty.
