This was my first time staying in such a high-end hotel, and I will definitely come back again!

I stayed in February, and the service staff, from the front desk and restaurant to housekeeping, were all very professional and friendly. Even though many of the hotel staff were temporarily transferred from other hotels, the overall service quality was excellent. My room was upgraded to a Premium Room, which I think is the best room type at the Upper Hill Hotel, aside from the suites. The room size and orientation are better than the basic rooms, deluxe rooms, and executive/executive deluxe rooms. The Premium Rooms all seem to face the inner garden, which makes them quieter and more private. My room had no trace of the smell of new renovations. I stayed in a Deluxe King Room, and with the addition of the "Enjoy Shanghai" coupons, the value was incredible. My Gold Card membership got me free breakfast, which had a wide variety of options. The decor is a light French style, and the public areas are beautiful with lots of attention to detail. CCD, as always, delivers a solid design. As a city hotel, it continues the elegance and sophistication of the old Shanghai Hilton. It's very Shanghai, very comfortable. Although the building used to be the Hotel Nikko Shanghai, the interior has been completely renovated with a brighter and more comfortable color scheme. The hotel breakfast is good, and the seating service is excellent. The Shanghai-style wontons were a highlight. The hotel is next to Jing'an Temple, which makes shopping very convenient. It's also close to Hongqiao Airport. Jiangsu Road Subway Station (Lines 2/11) is about a 12-minute walk away. Across Yan'an Middle Road is the Shanghai Theatre Academy, which is worth a visit if you have time for a city walk.
