Based on my personal experience and the detours I took, I wrote this guide to Lanting Pavilion to provide valuable references and help you avoid making the same mistakes I did. 1️⃣ Opening hours and ticket information: Lanting Pavilion is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 8:00 am to 4:50 pm. Tickets cost CNY 70 and can be purchased on-site. From January 26 to March 31, tickets are free during the off-season. Local residents also enjoy free admission. 2️⃣ Transportation: If you start from Lu Xun's Former Residence, there is a direct bus to Lanting Pavilion, which takes about an hour. If you drive, there is a parking lot in the scenic area. 3️⃣ Recommended visit duration: For general visitors, 2 to 3 hours is recommended. For calligraphy lovers, 3 to 4 hours is recommended to fully appreciate the scenery. 4️⃣ Recommended route: Goose Pond → Lanting Pavilion Stele Pavilion → Qushui Liushang (a traditional Qushui Liushang event is held here at around 1:40 pm. After the event, visitors can taste yellow rice wine for free) → Wang Youjun Temple → Imperial Stele Pavilion → Eighteen Cisterns by the Pond → Lanting Pavilion Ancient Path → Tianzhang Temple Ruins → Lanting Pavilion Calligraphy Museum. I made the mistake of following the crowd and missed the Lanting Pavilion Ancient Path and Tianzhang Temple Ruins, so I had to go back. Please plan your route carefully to avoid this. 5️⃣ Shopping recommendations: I highly recommend buying a Lanting Pavilion fridge magnet in the scenic area. As shown in picture 1, this fridge magnet was purchased at the store shown in picture 2. It only costs CNY 18, and the store also offers a stamp service. Other cultural and creative stores are more expensive. 6️⃣ Shopping at the scenic area exit: There are many cultural and creative stores and fan calligraphy stores at the exit of the scenic area, which are also worth visiting.
