Everyone should be familiar with our iconic Singaporean dish that is well loved by the local community here and travellers alike. So it comes to no surprise that we chanced upon this stall and my mom (being a true blooded Hainanese) jumped at the opportunity to try the steamed version of the local delicacy. Our order of a regular plate of the Hainanese Chicken Rice with thigh meat cost $5.00 and it comes with a healthy bowl of winter melon soup ! They offer chilli and garlic sauce on the side so you can choose to have them separate or mixed together like we did. Dark soya sauce is also available too. My mom loved it and said the chicken was surprisingly tender and the rice was super fragrant. The soup was a warm welcome and my mom also finished up the two pieces of winter melon.
