A samsui woman (红头巾) is described as our tough ladies back in the 1920s when they come over to Singapore and working as constructions and industrial jobs. These ladies helped to shape Singapore’s developments. They are our foremothers in Singapore’s history. You will be able to know more about them inside the Chinatown Heritage Centre. A museum to trace back to the pioneers who had made Chinatown theri home. As of now, this museum is closed. So will need to check back again when it will be open soon.
